It's not always easy to follow Jesus and live in a way that pleases God. But when you lack the motivation to keep going, what can you do? Read the Bible and pray! God's word gives us encouragement. In it we find all the reasons we need to continue serving God faithfully. Find your motivation again through these verses:

1. Renewed strength

God restores our strength when we feel exhausted by life's battles. All we need is to trust him completely. We need to cling to Christ in prayer and in His Word because his strength keeps us firm and motivated to overcome life's challenges.

"30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
- Isaiah 40:30-31

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength

2. Take heart

Unfortunately, if we are being honest, we are not always in the right mood to persevere, whether at home, at work, at school, or at church. However, we find in the Bible a strong incentive to do everything, always giving our best: do EVERYTHING as if you were doing it FOR GOD! Be excellent! Whatever you do, do your best for God!

"23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
- Colossians 3:23-24

3. Work isn't pointless

Sometimes it seems that obeying God doesn't pay off. You may be facing difficulties and suffering, but don't give up! Your work is not useless. When you obey God, you become part of His great plan. So everything you do will have an effect, even if you can't see it now.

Be strong and constant in your faith, service, and love for God!

"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."
- 1 Corinthians 15:58

4. God is for us!

Yes, the difficulties may be great, but God is greater. If you have God by your side, nothing can stop you! Follow Jesus and obey him. You'll see that no obstacle is too great for God.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
- Romans 8:31

5. Rejoice in God!

True joy drives us on every day. Jesus is the reason for the Christian's joy. Despite your circumstances, make God your source of joy and satisfaction. Then you'll find the strength to overcome every challenge that comes your way. Rejoice!

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"
- philippians 4:4

6. God strengthens the weary

Physical and emotional exhaustion saps our motivation. But you're not fighting alone. God is with you and He has the strength you need. When you think you can't do it anymore, trust in God's strength and seek rest in him.

"28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak."
- Isaiah 40:28-29

7. Planting for the harvest

God has the right time for everything. You may not see the results now, but if you don't give up following Jesus, you will reap the rewards of your persistence. Always do what is good and right, as the Bible directs. You will certainly reap the rewards of an obedient and upright life before God.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
- Galatians 6:9

8. Be brave

God knows that we need to be encouraged. He knows how fragile and vulnerable we are. That's why, at various times when we read the Scriptures, we hear His commanding voice encouraging us to be courageous and strong. Courage in the Bible is not synonymous with self-confidence, daring, or bravery, nor does it mean the absence of feelings (such as fear).

To have courage in God is to trust that his strong arm will never forsake us. It's believing that he won't abandon us, so we can carry on the fight. We are courageous because we trust in the strength of our Heavenly Father, who sustains and motivates us with each new day!

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
- Deuteronomy 31:6

9. You can do all things through him who strengthens you!

The Lord is the strength in your life! When all seems lost or hopeless, Christ can fill you with peace and encouragement again. God has many blessings in store for you, such as peace, restoration, and eternal life. He helps you not to give up! So stay strong. God strengthens you this day. Trust in his awesome power!

"I can do all this through him who gives me strength."

- Philippians 4:13

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

10. You have every blessing

Don't think that the Lord Jesus abandoned you on this suffering earth while he went to heaven. Before that, he left us his Holy Spirit, and with that, all blessings.

This means that you don't need to hunt for blessings or think that something is holding these blessings back in your life. Just believe and enjoy these blessings in your life.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ."
- Ephesians 1:3

11. Overcome all challenges with our God

Faced with the threat of death, Paul resorted to the best alternative: trusting in God. Even if you're not facing death, your challenges certainly threaten you in some way. Like Paul, try to trust in God, the one who helps you overcome every challenge.

"Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead."
- 2 Corinthians 1:9

12. I'm not afraid of God

God is our refuge! Know that in this you will find motivation. When you feel like giving up, in the face of fear of defeat or shame, take refuge in God, for he will protect you.

Look at what the psalmist says, when his enemies advanced against him... The Lord makes them stumble. When the enemy tries to destroy you, God will stop him.

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked advance against me
to devour me,
it is my enemies and my foes
who will stumble and fall.

- Psalm 27:1-2

13. Forget the past and walk into your future!

There's one thing that might be preventing you from moving forward in your Christian walk: your past. What we have already done in our lives can become an anchor, a wall, which prevents us from moving forward. Your past, however, should never be a barrier between you and God, because, in his act of forgiveness, the Lord knocks that wall down and gives you eternal life.

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 3:13-14

14. God is at work in you to fulfill His perfect will

"for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose."
Philippians 2:13

15. God protects you and nothing will get to you

"A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you."
- Psalm 91:7

16. Stand firm in God's love!

"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love."
- John 15:9

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

17. Remain firm in your faith, resisting suffering

"Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings."
- 1 Peter 5:9

Jesus has a reward ready for you. That's the best motivation!
