Day 1 of 3

Stop

Reflection

When was the last time you really stopped? Not stopped from exhaustion, but stopped by choice?

The Word

Jesus said these words during his ministry in Galilee, speaking to ordinary people who lived under the weight of religious and social expectations. It was not generic advice. It was a personal invitation to real people who were truly tired.

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

"For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”"

Matthew 11:28-30 (BSB)

Understanding

There is a kind of tiredness that a good night's sleep doesn't fix. It's tiredness of the soul. That feeling that you are carrying more than you can hold. Demands, responsibilities, fears, expectations. And the list keeps growing.

Jesus doesn't say "fix your problems and then come." He says "come to me" exactly as you are. Tired. Overwhelmed. Out of breath. The invitation is to stop. Not to give up, but to admit that you were not made to carry everything alone.

The first step to breathing is simple: stop. Stop trying to handle everything. Stop pretending everything is fine. And accept the invitation of the one who says: "I will give you rest."

What to do today

Today, pick 15 minutes of your day to stop. No phone, no music, no tasks. Sit in silence. If anxious thoughts come, don't fight them. Just repeat quietly: "I accept your rest, Jesus."

Prayer

Jesus, I am tired. Really tired. It's not just my body. It's my soul. Today I accept your invitation. I stop. I come to you as I am, without pretending to have strength I don't have. Give me rest. Amen.
