How many times have you heard (or said), "Now all we can do is pray"? Prayer seems to be our last resort, something we only do when we have no more hope. But prayer is our greatest weapon! Our prayers have a lot of power!

Have a look at what the Bible says about the power of prayer:

1. Call Upon Me and I Will Hear You!

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. - Jeremiah 29:12

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
- Jeremiah 29:12

Calling on the Lord means crying out in faith, like a friend who calls on another for help. God will hear us if we approach him with confidence in prayer.

2. Anyone can pray

Elijah was a human being

17 "Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops."
- James 5:17-18

You don't have to be very spiritual to pray and receive an answer. Elijah was a normal person, just like you. He prayed in faith and God answered.

3. Jesus has the Power

And I will do whatever you ask in my name

13 "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."
- John 14:13-14

The power of prayer doesn't come from you. The power is in Jesus. It is Jesus who answers prayer and fulfils the impossible.

(But be careful! Prayer is a request, not a demand to God. Jesus answers prayer when it glorifies God).

4. Prayer brings Healing

Therefore confess your sins

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
- James 5:16

When you pray for healing, God hears! Just pray and believe that He is the God of the impossible.

5. Prayer Sets you Free

He replied

He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”
- Mark 9:29

Jesus frees and transforms lives. If you pray with faith and fear, God will cast out every evil power that causes oppression. Pray with confidence in the grace that Jesus Christ gives through prayer.

6. Those who pray see miracles

Truly I tell you

21"Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.
22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
- Matthew 21: 21-22

God uses your prayers to work miracles! You just need to have faith.

7. Just ask

Ask and it will be given to you

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

Matthew 7: 7

God loves you and wants to do good things for you and the people around you.

Pray and don't give up, and you'll see God's power!
