Word For Today
A daily word for you to receive inspiration and make your day better.
Today's Word
Every life is valuable and has a purpose
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
- Jeremiah 1:5
Many people ask themselves why they are here and what purpose they have in life. Many suffer greatly thinking they are the product of chance or that they are not worth much. Jeremiah, the prophet of the Old Testament, was one of those who struggled with this. He considered himself a simple boy who could not even speak well.
But God surprised him! God told him that He knew him before he was born and that He had a great mission for him. With all his emotional ups and downs and all his shortcomings, Jeremiah became a great prophet because God’s touch upon him filled him with courage and power.
How do you see yourself? Do you think you are here by chance? Do you think you only need to endure daily struggles as best you can until your end comes? Perhaps it would be good for you to ask God the reason why you are in this world today, at this specific moment.
Surely, there is something you are meant to do for the glory of God. He created you and desires to have a personal relationship with you. But He also wants to do great things in your life and through you. Open your heart today to the Holy Spirit of God and allow Him to show you how valuable you are to God and the wonderful things you can do with Him and in His name.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
- Ephesians 2:10

How to overcome trials
At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
- Mark 1:12–13
In order to overcome sin in our lives, temptations are necessary. You should not place yourself in situations of temptation in order to win, but God naturally leads you to moments and places where your faith and steadfastness will be tested.
Jesus Himself was led by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by Satan in the wilderness. Because Jesus was filled with the Spirit and had been nourished by the Word of God, He overcame the temptations! Jesus is our example of how to overcome trials.
Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
- Matthew 4:10
Jesus knew the Word and the incomparable power within it. In the Bible we find the truth about God’s power, and as we fill ourselves with that truth, we learn to overcome for the glory of our Lord. When the devil tries to fill our minds with lies or place doubts in our hearts about God, we can affirm our faith and reject his lies with the truths of the Bible.
Fill your mind and heart with the truth of God’s Word. Overcome the tests set before you by affirming your faith in the Truth. God loves you, God is powerful, and God will help you in every situation.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
- 2 Corinthians 10:4

Day Before Yesterday's Word
Wait with patience
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
- Psalm 40:1
Patience! It is so easy to talk about and so difficult to practice! In the world we live in, everything is fast and instant, and patience has become increasingly rare. We want everything immediately!
When God asks us to wait and be patient, we must remember that this will only work if we truly trust in Him, knowing that He is able to resolve any situation.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
- Psalm 27:14
Waiting with confidence fills us with hope. If we know God well, we know that He is faithful and always keeps His word. Therefore, we can wait with a calm heart and with the certainty that He will act at the right time.
But we also need to be strong and courageous. Waiting does not mean burying our heads in the sand. It means that we can face any situation knowing that God is in control.
He helps us to wait patiently, but He also shows us what we can do in faith while we wait. His desire is to shape our character more into the image of Jesus, and seasons of waiting are good times for learning.
Wait patiently for the Lord, but do not remain stagnant. Use the waiting time to move forward in the Lord and allow Him to shape you. The goal is to become more like Jesus.
