Today's Word
Fruits that show repentance
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.
- Matthew 3:8
Repentance cannot be just words. True repentance is accompanied by a real and visible change in behavior. This was the truth John the Baptist wanted to emphasize to the Pharisees and Sadducees. They could claim a thousand times to be descendants of Abraham, but their actions did not match their words.
True repentance produces fruit that shows the transformation that has taken place in the heart. A biblical example is Zacchaeus, a tax collector with a bad reputation. After an encounter with Jesus, he recognized his wrongdoing and bore fruit of repentance by choosing to make restitution for what he had defrauded:
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
- Luke 19:8
This shows us that repenting is not about how we speak or memorizing Bible verses. That alone does not make us holy. What truly matters is understanding what we read in the Word and allowing it to transform us. We need to repent of our sins and choose to live according to what God tells us. A repentant life seeks to be filled with the Holy Spirit daily in order to live according to God's will.
Let us produce today fruit that shows our repentance!

Yesterday's Word
One day at a time
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
- Matthew 6:34
Why do humans like to worry so much? As if today’s situations weren’t enough, we spend hours thinking about what might happen tomorrow, next month, or five years from now. And the more we think about what could happen, the more nervous and anxious we become.
God, who knows us perfectly because He is our Father and Creator, exhorts us in His Word to focus on the present, to live one day at a time. The previous verses give us the secret: to cast our cares on God and trust Him firmly.
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
- Matthew 6:31-33
Is there something weighing on you or stressing you today? Give it to God. Place it in the hands of the loving Father who is with you and can do all things.
Live this day with a heart full of trust because your heavenly Father knows your needs and desires. He cares for you today and will continue caring for you every day of your life. Trust in His love, trust in His peace, trust in His provision. God does not lie. Seek His kingdom and His righteousness and fill your heart with the assurance that God is with you today, helping you, and will be with you for all eternity.
Day Before Yesterday's Word
Are you thirsty for the Lord?
As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.
- Psalm 42:1
Have you ever felt very thirsty with no water nearby? It’s a strong and debilitating feeling. Your mouth and throat become dry, and you are overcome with dizziness or disorientation. Drinking water several times a day is essential for our bodies to function properly.
Jesus Himself experienced thirst. One time, after walking for a while, Jesus encountered a woman as He rested by a well. He asked her for water, and she was shocked because He was a Jew and she was a Samaritan. Jesus said to her:
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
- John 4:10
The water God gives satisfies the thirst for abundant and true life that lies deep in our spirit. Even if we are unaware of it, like the Samaritan woman, we have a thirst that only God can quench and He stands with open arms, offering us His living water.
If we don’t seek God, if we don’t daily refresh our spirit with His presence, we begin to feel spiritual lethargy and disorientation. Stay alert! Seek the Lord every day. Don’t go without satisfying your spiritual thirst. Read the Word of the Lord daily, talk with your Father, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
