Today's Word

Purify yourself from everything that contaminates you

The New Testament holds many promises for us. These promises are of the help God offers us during our challenges and struggles, God's great rescue plan through the return of Christ, and the promise of eternal life.

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

- 2 Corinthians 7:1

In 2 Corinthians 7:1, we are called to seek purity in our lives, because of the promises God has made to us. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have the promise of redemption and eternal life. Therefore, as beloved of God, our desire should be to live a purified life both in body and spirit.

Purifying the body involves taking care of our physical temple, our body. We should distance ourselves from harmful practices and habits that do not honor God. But purifying our spiritual self is equally important. We must distance ourselves from attitudes, thoughts, and feelings that damage our relationship with God and others.

Pursuing holiness is not an easy task, but a journey of continuous growth. This verse in Corinthians should remind us that we need to be building holiness and purity with reverence and fear of God. This fear is not dread, but a deep respect and awe for our Creator.

So, as we walk our path of faith, let us keep our hearts and minds focused on God's promise and strive to live a purified and sanctified life, honoring God in every area of our lives.

Believe! You Can Move Mountains by Faith!

When the sun sets, do you doubt that it will rise again the next day? No! You believe it will rise, even without seeing it. That is faith.

We can have the same faith in God because He never fails. Even without seeing, we can believe that God will not forsake us.

The Bible says that a little faith in God has a great effect. Those who truly believe can move mountains! To witness God's miracles, all you need to do is believe and act. Jesus tells us this himself:

21 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.Matthew 21:21

Consider the story of Thomas, one of Jesus' disciples. He doubted that Jesus had risen from the dead until he saw Jesus with his own eyes. Jesus responded to him saying, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." This shows us just how powerful faith can be, it transcends beyond the need for physical proof. It's about trusting in what we cannot see but know to be true in our hearts.

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
John 20:29

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33

In this passage of the Bible, Jesus tells us something very special. He says that his message is the key to peace. And although Jesus acknowledges that life can be difficult and full of problems, He encourages us not to lose heart. Why? Because He has overcome all the challenges the world can bring.

The message is clear: we will have difficult times, but Jesus encourages us to be courageous because He has already overcome all difficulties. This victory is not just a story; it is something that affects our lives right now. In Jesus, we have the promise of a happy ending to our story and the certainty that, even during trials, we can have peace.
