How to get rid of resentment

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
- Ephesians 4:32

Forgiving is not easy, but living with resentment is the worst option. Resentment robs us of joy and makes life bitter.

If you hold on to resentment, you will see that it will destroy your life. However, the Bible teaches us to get rid of this unpleasant and negative feeling through forgiveness. When you forgive, you choose to let go of bitterness and leave justice in God’s hands. Forgiveness heals wounds and restores relationships.

Is there a relationship you need to restore? Pray to God to fill you with love and help you forgive. Remember that forgiveness is not optional: God calls us to forgive just as He forgave us.

And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.
- Mark 11:25–26 (NKJV)

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
- Colossians 3:12–13

Cast out resentment and let God transform your life. Learn to forgive with Jesus’ help and live more joyfully!

Do you trust in the power of God or of men?

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it."
- Isaiah 30:15

Assyria attacked the people of Israel, and God, through the prophet Isaiah, encouraged the people to trust in Him and His power. God would work and deliver them; they only had to wait and trust. But no, the people put their trust in Egypt and hoped that the power of the Pharaoh would protect them. They preferred to see something happen immediately.

God only asked them to rest and trust in Him and His power, but the people chose to see action instead of waiting.

Often, we are the same. We know God is all-powerful, that we can trust Him to fight our battles and bring justice. But we choose to act, solve things our own way, or trust people who seem strong because it seems like a faster solution. We are not good at waiting and trusting.

However, trusting God is always the best choice. He knows what is best for us in every situation and loves us more than anyone else, so He only wants what is good for us. Are you in the middle of a battle or a difficult situation? Choose to trust God, in His love for you and His infinite power. Under His guidance, the solution will be the best, and you will live in peace, filled with His peace.

You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
- Isaiah 26:3

Prayer:

Father God, You are my stronghold.I come into Your presence putting my trust in You. I know that You fight my battles and will bring justice in every situations. Help me to grow stronger in my faith as I commit everything into Your mighty hands. In Your name I pray, Amen.

Power to bear witness

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
- Acts 1:8

Before ascending to heaven, Jesus spoke these words to His disciples. He had already talked to them about the Holy Spirit before His crucifixion. He told them that the Holy Spirit would accompany them, comfort them, and teach them what they should do (John 14:15–26).

The work of the Holy Spirit became evident in the lives of the disciples. The message of salvation through Jesus Christ spread throughout Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. It has reached you and me! No one can stop the work of the Holy Spirit on earth, because the Father’s desire is that everyone hears about Jesus and receives Him as Savior.

And if the Holy Spirit dwells in you, your heart’s desire should be for others to be saved. He empowers you to witness and guides you to impact the world with God’s love. Your way of sharing the message may differ from that of the disciples, but under the Spirit’s guidance and anointing, it can be just as effective.

Pray to God today to give you the opportunity to love someone with His love and in His name, and to allow you to testify about what He has done in your life. A word of encouragement, a cup of water, a smile… giving these with the Spirit’s anointing and in the Lord’s name might be exactly what someone needs to draw closer to God. Are you willing to be a channel of blessings today? Say yes to the Lord!
