Today's Word

The engine of life

For in him we live and move and have our being....
- Acts 17:28a

The apostle Paul was in Athens. As he walked through the city, he noticed that the Athenians were very religious. The city was full of idols! Paul sensed their spiritual thirst and began preaching the good news of Jesus.

He wanted them to understand that God is not a distant God but is constantly involved in the lives of human beings, “for He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.” (Acts 17:25b). God is the engine of life! Without Him, we wouldn't even be here.

Paul used a phrase from a Greek poet: “For in Him we live and move and have our being.” He built a bridge between them and God, hoping the Athenians would receive the hope that is found in the Lord.

Is Christ the driving force in your life? Do you live with the hope He gives? Do you move according to the direction of His Spirit? Is your life centered on Him? Be a bridge of blessing today: share God’s love with others. He still wants to reach many more with His love and you can be His instrument of salvation.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
- John 3:16–17

Choosing to follow Christ

Then He said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.
- Luke 9:23

Choosing to follow Christ is the greatest and most important decision we will ever make. When we surrender our lives to Him and receive Him as our Lord and Savior, everything changes. We not only receive His forgiveness and eternal life, but we also begin to see life and live it under His guidance.

Today’s verse, Luke 9:23, reminds us that following Jesus is a decision that requires self-denial and daily commitment. We no longer lie or steal, deceive others, or mock them. If something does not please God, we leave it behind. That is what it means to deny ourselves. We live to glorify God through our words, actions, and even emotions.

When we take up our cross daily, we commit to living for the Lord amid whatever circumstances the new day may bring. Our love for God shapes how we respond to the situations we face.

But we do not do all this in our own strength. The Holy Spirit, who lives in us, gives us the power to say no to what separates us from God's will and yes to what draws us closer to Him. Keep your heart sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading and continue following Christ, glorifying Him with your life.

Day Before Yesterday's Word

How is your daily struggle going?

Even the strongest warriors need rest! Many times we complicate our situation because we do not learn to stop and recover our strength. True rest is found in God. Trust Him and surrender your life to the Lord. Believe that He will help you with the challenges of everyday life.

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
- Exodus 33:14

What challenges are you facing today? Talk to God and place everything in His hands. You do not need to carry your burdens alone. God offers you His strong arms, in which you can place your burdens and rest. Do not reject the help of the One who can give true rest to your life.

Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.
- Psalm 55:22

No matter how heavy your burden may be, God can carry it. He is far greater and more powerful. He has the solution to what may be weighing on you. Reach out and hold firmly to the Lord. In Him you will find the relief you need to move forward with confidence and optimism.

Choose to trust in God’s power and surrender your struggles to Him. Speak to the Father with all your heart and decide to rest in Him. Receive right now the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4:6–7
