Today's Word

Live your life to the fullest with the Lord

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
- Ephesians 5:15–16

The time God has given us on earth is finite it will come to an end. The minutes we’re living right now will not return. Are we making the most of the time God has given us?

There are many distractions around us. People demanding our attention, situations that can’t wait, tasks we need to complete. It’s good to stay busy, but the best use of our time is dedicating it to strengthening our relationship with God and living within His will.

Pray to God for wisdom to use each minute of your time in His service and for His glory. Do your work wholeheartedly, as for the Lord and not for people, as Colossians 3:23 says. Love and serve others with joy. Try to see the good in those around you instead of focusing on their flaws. Pray for God’s help to become more like Christ each day.

With Jesus as your model for life, you will live each day to the fullest, with God and for God. Would you like to start living this way today?

Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
- Psalm 90:12

Yesterday's Word

Jesus Overcame Death

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
- Matthew 28:5-6

As we remember the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, we must keep in mind that He rose again. Jesus defeated death and is alive! On the cross, Jesus bore the punishment that we all deserved for our sins. He suffered greatly for you and for me, but His love was greater than the fear of pain and humiliation.

However, Jesus did not remain dead: He rose again! Through His resurrection, He conquered death. All of us who receive Him as Lord and Savior and live in obedience to His commandments will be with Him for all eternity.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
- John 11:25-26

Proclaim today the true life that is in Christ Jesus. He overcame physical death, and with Him we have the hope of eternal life. Yet there are many who have not heard about God’s great love for them, nor do they know that in Him they can have abundant and eternal life. Decide today to proclaim the victory of Jesus over death.

Day Before Yesterday's Word

Purify yourself from everything that contaminates you

The New Testament holds many promises for us. These promises are of the help God offers us during our challenges and struggles, God's great rescue plan through the return of Christ, and the promise of eternal life.

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

- 2 Corinthians 7:1

In 2 Corinthians 7:1, we are called to seek purity in our lives, because of the promises God has made to us. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have the promise of redemption and eternal life. Therefore, as beloved of God, our desire should be to live a purified life both in body and spirit.

Purifying the body involves taking care of our physical temple, our body. We should distance ourselves from harmful practices and habits that do not honor God. But purifying our spiritual self is equally important. We must distance ourselves from attitudes, thoughts, and feelings that damage our relationship with God and others.

Pursuing holiness is not an easy task, but a journey of continuous growth. This verse in Corinthians should remind us that we need to be building holiness and purity with reverence and fear of God. This fear is not dread, but a deep respect and awe for our Creator.

So, as we walk our path of faith, let us keep our hearts and minds focused on God's promise and strive to live a purified and sanctified life, honoring God in every area of our lives.
