The Origin of Caleb and His Family

Caleb was the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, a foreigner who joined the people of Israel (Numbers 32:12). This indicates that Caleb was probably not a native Israelite but was adopted by the tribe of Judah, where he became an important leader. The Scriptures do not mention Caleb's mother.

The Bible does not give the name of Caleb's wife, and no details are provided about her. Although some movies and series identify her as Naomi, that relationship has no biblical basis and does not appear in the Scriptures.

Regarding his family, the Bible mentions that Caleb had a daughter named Acsa (Joshua 15:16-19). Caleb declared that he would give his daughter in marriage to the man who conquered the city of Kiriath-sepher. Othniel succeeded in the conquest and married Acsa. Othniel, Caleb's nephew, later became the first judge of Israel (Judges 3:9-11).
