Fun Activities for Ladies Church Groups


It is always a joy when women of God come together to share the goodness and favor of the Lord in their lives. To kickstart such a gathering, we’ve put together a few fun games and icebreaker activities. These will help build group dynamics, encourage connection, and ensure that everyone has a memorable and uplifting time.

1. Getting to Know Each Other: Each Sheep with Its Pair

Objective: To get to know the group members better and discover the joy of sharing with others what is happening in our lives.

Materials: Pairs of photos—enough for the whole group. One bag.

Instructions:

  • The organizer should bring pairs of photos, drawings of geometric shapes, or papers with the names of Bible characters (2 identical of each). There must be enough for the whole group.
  • When the participants arrive, the organizer will place in the bag only the number of pairs needed. For example, if there are 20 participants, 10 pairs are needed. If there are 30 people, then 15 pairs are needed.
  • Each person will take a paper from the bag.
  • Once everyone has their paper, they must search for their pair—the person who has the same drawing.
  • Once all pairs have been found, they will have 5 minutes to talk. Each person should share something important about themselves and something funny that happened to them.
  • Then, everyone will gather again in the large group. Each pair will take turns standing, and each person will say the name of their partner and briefly share what they learned about them.

2. Bible Activity: What Does It Say...?

Objective: To encourage participants to learn the order of the books of the Bible and to study Bible passages.

Materials: Each group should have one or more Bibles.

Instructions:

  • Before the meeting, the organizer should prepare several Bible references from different books.
  • Divide the group into two teams. Each team should have at least one Bible—more is even better.
  • The organizer reads the first reference assigned to Team 1. That team has 30 seconds to find the passage, come to the front, and read the verse aloud. If they succeed, they earn one point.
  • Then the turn alternates to the other team.
  • The team that finds and reads the most verses correctly in front of the group wins.

Biblical Basis and Teaching:
At the end, discuss the importance of knowing the Bible well and being able to find verses that are helpful in different situations.

3. Group Activity: Let’s Work Together!

Objective: To help the group understand the importance of teamwork.

Materials:

  • A puzzle (100+ pieces) depicting a Bible character or a well-known Bible story.
  • Bags to divide the puzzle pieces by section.
  • A table large enough to hold the completed puzzle.
  • Small tables or chairs for teams to work on their puzzle section.
  • A 5-minute timer.

Instructions:

  1. Before the meeting, the organizer should divide the puzzle into 5 sections, placing each section into a separate bag.
  2. Display the image of the completed puzzle or the puzzle box lid so everyone can see what the final picture looks like.
  3. Divide the participants into 5 small groups.
  4. Give each group one bag of puzzle pieces and explain that each group is responsible for completing their section of the puzzle.
  5. Set the timer for 5 minutes—this is the time each group has to work on assembling their section.
  6. After 5 minutes, each group places their section—completed or not—onto the main table.
  7. Then, all groups work together to assemble the full puzzle and fill in any missing pieces.

Biblical Basis and Teaching:

Discuss the value of working together to bring Christ’s love and light to the community. Encourage the group to come up with practical ideas to help someone as a team in the coming weeks.

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

4. Group Activity: We’ll Achieve It Together

Objective: To help participants understand that by working together, they can reach goals that may seem impossible.

Materials:

  • A spacious area for free movement.
  • Objects like chairs, cones, or pieces of paper to mark the target or goal area.

Instructions:

  1. If the group is small, they can all stay together. If there are more than 7 people, divide them into two or three teams.
  2. The organizer places a chair or object at a reachable distance, but far enough to require teamwork.
  3. Each team lines up in a single file and must reach the object without breaking physical contact.
  4. They must stay connected at all times—touching at least by fingertip or foot. They can lie down, stretch arms or legs, bend, etc.—but must remain in contact.
  5. The team that reaches the object without separating wins.

Biblical Basis:

Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor.
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.

5. Group Activity: Strong Tower

Objective: To help participants learn the importance of perseverance. Great and meaningful things require time and effort.

Materials: A good number of plastic cups.

Instructions:

  1. Depending on the size of the group, divide participants into 2 or 3 small teams.
  2. Each team receives a pack of plastic cups. They have 5 minutes to work together and build a tower using the cups.
  3. The goal is to work as a team, encourage each other, and persevere in building the tower.
    If the tower falls, they can start again if time allows.
  4. The team that builds the tallest and largest tower wins.

Biblical Basis & Reflection Questions:

Ask: How did you feel? Were you able to collaborate?
Was it a frustrating or encouraging experience?

May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.

6. Bible Activity: Do I Know Jesus?

Objective: To encourage participants to study the life of Jesus in the Bible.

Materials: Slips of paper with questions and answers about the life of Jesus, and two boxes or bags.

Instructions:

  1. The organizer should prepare questions and answers about Jesus' life beforehand, placing them in two separate bags or boxes.
  2. Divide the group into two smaller groups.
  3. One group receives the questions, the other receives the answers.
  4. Assign a number to each participant in both groups.
  5. Participant #1 from the questions group reads their question aloud. The participants in the answers group must identify who has the correct answer, and that person reads it aloud.
  6. Now, the person who read the correct answer takes their turn: they read the answer they have, and the questions group must find the corresponding question.
  7. Continue in this alternating pattern. If someone’s number has already gone, skip to the next until all Q&A pairs are completed.
  8. At the end, have a group discussion: What new details did you learn about Jesus’ life? Was there anything surprising?

7. Bible Activity: How Does It Help Me?

Objective: To help participants discover the power of God’s Word and the wide range of topics it addresses.

Materials: Slips of paper with Bible verses on various topics placed inside a bag or box.

Instructions:

  1. Participants should sit in a circle. Assign a turn to each person.
  2. The person with the first turn stands up and draws a slip of paper from the bag or box.
  3. They read the Bible verse aloud and share something about it. For example:
    • How did it make them feel?
    • Did they already know this verse?
    • Is there something from the verse they can apply to their life?
  4. Ideally, each participant gets a turn to read a verse and reflect on it.

Biblical Basis:

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

8. Integration Activity: My Life in 2 Drawings

Objective: To help participants reflect on their life and learn something new about each other.

Materials: Sheets of paper, pens, and colored crayons. Tables or extra chairs to draw on are helpful, but not necessary.

Instructions:

  1. Divide into small groups of 4–5 people.
  2. Each person gets a paper and a pen or colored crayons.
  3. Fold the paper in half. Write “Past” on the left side and “Present” on the right.
  4. Everyone must draw something about their past and something about their present.
  5. Once everyone finishes, take turns showing and explaining their drawings:
    • How did it feel to draw them and reflect on their life?
    • Are they happy with their life?
    • Is there anything they’d like to improve?
    • What steps could they take to grow? (e.g., study more, find a new job, spend more time with family)

9. Biblical Charades with a Twist: A 3-Level Challenge

Objective: To recall and reinforce knowledge of biblical characters and key events in a fun and interactive way.

Materials Needed:

  • Small strips of paper (at least 2 per person)
  • Pens or pencils
  • A hat or bag to hold the strips
  • A timer (phone or stopwatch)

Instructions:

  • The game has 3 levels, each increasing in difficulty and fun.
  • Give each participant a minimum of 2 paper strips.
  • Ask them to write the name of a biblical character along with a major event associated with them.
    • Examples:
      • Moses: Parting the Red Sea
      • Lot’s Wife: Turned into a pillar of salt
      • Lot: Fled from Sodom and Gomorrah
  • Repeats are allowed—it adds to the challenge and fun!
  • Fold all strips and place them into a hat or bag.
  • Divide into Teams by counting off alternately (1, 2, 1, 2...) to form two teams.
  • Team 1s go together, and Team 2s together.

Level 1: Verbal Clues

Rules:

  • One player from Team One starts.
  • They draw a strip and give spoken clues only (no names or direct references).
  • Teammates must guess the character AND the event.
  • Correct guesses = 1 point each. The player continues drawing new strips for 30 seconds.
  • They can skip a difficult one and return it to the bag.
  • Alternate between teams until all strips are used.

Example:
Strip: Moses: Parting the Red Sea
Clue: "This man led the Israelites out of Egypt. God used him to split water in half!"
Team guesses: "Moses! Parting the Red Sea!" ✅
Next strip...

Level 2: Charades (Acting Only)

Rules:

  • Return all strips to the bag.
  • This time, the player must act out the clue with no talking or sound effects.
  • The team guesses as many as they can in 30 seconds.
  • Encourage new team members to participate.

Example:
Strip: Lot’s Wife: Turned into a pillar of salt
The player might:

  • Pretend to walk, look back dramatically, then freeze stiff like a statue.
  • The team guesses: "Lot’s Wife! Turned into salt!" ✅

Level 3: One-Word Clue

Rules:

  • All strips are returned to the bag again.
  • The player may say only one word as a clue. No gestures or extra sounds.
  • The team must recall previous rounds to guess correctly.
  • Play 30-second turns until the bag is empty.

Example:
Strip: Lot: Fled from Sodom and Gomorrah
Clue word: “Escape”
Team guesses: "Lot fleeing Sodom!" ✅

Winning the Game:

  • Add the total number of correct guesses from all 3 levels.
  • The team with the highest score wins.

Biblical Basis & Reflection Questions:

At the end, you can ask:

  • Which Bible character did you remember better now?
  • Were there any characters or stories that surprised you?

10. Bible Activity: Unjumble the Verse!

Objective:Encourage participants to deepen their knowledge of Scripture by quickly recognizing and reconstructing Bible verses.

Materials Needed:

  • Projector, screen or laptop
  • Pre-prepared slides with jumbled Bible verses (words out of order)
  • Timer (physical or on screen)
  • Bible (optional for post-game reference)

Group Setup:

  • Divide the participants into 2 or 3 teams depending on the group size.
  • Teams can be formed by counting off (“1, 2, 3...”) or by natural groups.
  • Assign a scorekeeper and a leader/host to manage slides and timing.

Game Instructions:

Option 1: Fastest Hand (Competitive Format)

  1. Display a jumbled Bible verse on the screen.
  2. The first team to unscramble the verse raises their hand.
  3. If correct (including book, chapter, and verse reference), the team gets 1 point.
  4. If incorrect, the next team that raises their hand can try.
  5. Continue until all slides are done or set a number of rounds.

Option 2: Timed Challenge (Rotational Format)

  1. Set a 30-second timer for each team’s turn.
  2. During their 30 seconds, the team must unscramble as many verses as possible.
  3. If they can’t solve one, the verse passes to the next team, who gets a chance for a bonus point.
  4. Rotate teams every 30 seconds until all verses are used.
  5. Keep a running score; team with the most points wins.

Difficulty Levels: Increase complexity as the game progresses:

  • Level 1: Well-known, short verses (e.g., John 3:16, Psalm 23:1)
  • Level 2: Medium length, less familiar verses
  • Level 3: Longer verses or ones with similar word patterns to confuse players

Example Verse:

Jumbled: “world the so loved God that Son only his gave he”
Unscrambled: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.” (John 3:16)

Optional Add-ons:

  • Bonus Questions: After each verse, ask what the verse means or in what context it is used.
  • Sudden Death Round: Final verse worth double points with no passing allowed.

11. Activity Game: Snatch the Song!

Objective: Celebrate Christian music, quick thinking, and teamwork by creating a chain of songs through shared lyrics.

Group Setup:

  • Divide participants into 2 teams.
  • Teams can sit in two groups facing each other.
  • Choose a host to manage music, declare correctness, and keep score (optional).

Game Instructions:

Option 1: Melodious Mode (Relaxed & Worshipful)

  1. The host plays a Christian song (just the chorus or first stanza).
  2. The first team listens and must:
    • Choose any word from the lyrics they heard.
    • Use that word as the starting point of a new Christian song.
    • Sing the chorus or first stanza of that new song.
  3. Now the second team takes a word from that newly sung song and continues with another Christian song.
  4. Continue back and forth until:
    • A team runs out of songs, or
    • Repeats a song, or
    • Fails to start within 10–15 seconds (adjustable).
  5. Optional: Award 1 point per valid song to keep score.

Option 2: Rapid Fire (Energetic & Competitive)

  1. Same setup, but:

  • Teams interrupt as soon as they hear a word they can connect with a new song.
  • The team snatches the song by starting a new song instantly based on a word they just heard.
  • Host ensures fair play and accurate transitions.
  • The game becomes fast-paced and full of surprises.

Rules & Tips:

  • All songs must be Christian worship songs, choruses, or hymns.
  • Repeated songs are not allowed.
  • Teams must sing in tune and clearly state the new starting word they chose.
  • The host may keep a log of songs to avoid repetition and maintain flow.
  • Encourage participation, not perfection—this is a joyful game!

Example – Host plays a song snippet - chorus of “Way Maker”: 🎵 "Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness..."

Team A's Turn: They snatch the word “light” from the lyrics and sing: 🎵 “Light of the world, You stepped down into darkness…” (Here I Am to Worship – Tim Hughes)

Team B’s Turn: They snatch the word “world” and sing: 🎵 “He's got the whole world in His hands…”

Team A’s Turn Again: They snatch the word “hands” and sing: 🎵 “Hold me now in the hands that created the heavens…” (Hold Me Now – Hillsong UNITED)

Biblical Basis & Reflection Questions:

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

12. Name the Women in the Bible

Objective: Test Bible knowledge and memory by recalling the names of women mentioned in Scripture.

Setup:

  • Divide participants into teams of 2–3 people (depending on group size).
  • Provide each team with a sheet of paper and a pen.
  • No Bibles or phones allowed—this is a memory-only game!

Game Instructions:

  1. Set a timer for 5 minutes.
  2. Teams must write down as many women’s names from the Bible as they can remember.
  3. When time is up:
    • Each team counts how many names they have and announces their total.
    • The team with the most names goes first.
  4. That team reads their list out loud.
    • As they read, other teams cross out any duplicates from their own lists.
  5. Then, the next team gets a turn to read only the names remaining on their list.
  6. Repeat the process until all teams have shared.
  7. The team with the highest number of unique, valid women’s names wins.

Rules & Clarifications:

  • Only actual women’s names (e.g., Mary, Ruth, Esther) are allowed.
  • Titles like “the woman at the well” don’t count unless the name is known.
  • Each name must be a real biblical figure, not assumed or modern.
  • Duplicates across teams cancel out, and only unique entries count toward the score.
  • Optional: Have a leader/host keep track and verify names.
