To commit your way to God means placing His will above your own plans. It’s giving priority and permission to God's desires. We can make our choices, but when we invite God to guide us, that’s what it means to "commit your way to Him."
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this.
- Psalm 37:5
Certainly, entrusting our plans into God’s hands is the best decision we can make. His plans are greater than ours, and His will is sovereign. When we allow God to guide us, we acknowledge His importance in our lives.
How to Commit Your Way to the Lord
Committing means trusting 100%. When we stop making decisions on our own and allow God to lead, we are placing our trust in Him. Here are a few steps to commit your way to the Lord:
- Pray: Ask God to guide your life. Give Him permission to direct your steps.
- Read the Bible: The more we know God through His Word, the more we trust Him.
- Seek God's guidance before making decisions: Ask for His help, and He will lead you.
In Psalm 37, we find a great example of the benefits of trusting in God:
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
- Psalm 37:3-4
More than just trusting, delighting in the Lord means being satisfied with Him. We can only be truly satisfied when we are filled with His Spirit. That’s why the best way to trust God is by having intimacy with Him. When we seek God, we are filled with faith and hope, which gives us the confidence to share our dreams with Him.
The more we know Him, the more we trust Him. We can’t hand over the "steering wheel" of our lives without fully trusting God. That’s why we need to seek Him, learn more about Him. Nourish yourself with the Word of God, delight in it, and commit your life and plans to Him. He will do more than you can imagine!
