We live in a finite world. The Bible speaks about its end and details the signs that will precede it. God exhorts us in His word to stay alert and prepare ourselves. Among the things the Bible mentions that will happen is the second coming of Christ, the moment when Jesus will come to gather His Church, and all of us who have placed our faith in Him will go to live with Him for eternity.

The Bible also tells us that at the end of times, the nations will be judged, and many catastrophes, famines, and wars will take place. Those of us who have believed in Jesus as God and Savior should not fear. We have the certainty of eternity with our Heavenly Father, enjoying the fullness of His love, worshiping Him forever. But it is important to be prepared, recognize the times, and urge those around us to come closer to God, accept His forgiveness, and live with the certainty of salvation.

The Signs of the End

There are several passages in the Bible that speak to us about the different signs we will see at the end of times. In fact, there is a prophetic book in the Bible, the Book of Revelation, which speaks in detail about this topic. In Matthew 24:1-14, Jesus is speaking with His disciples about the signs of the end, and here we find a good summary of what we need to watch for. Jesus mentions the ten signs listed below.

1. False Teachers, False Christs

Matthew 24:5 speaks of those who will announce themselves as the Christ and will deceive many people. That is why it is important to know that when Christ returns, every eye will see Him, and it will be sudden.

2. Wars and Threats of War

There will be many wars, more than we have ever seen. It will be difficult for nations to maintain peace and reach agreements.

3. Famine and Earthquakes

Famine will spread everywhere due to wars, the increase in natural disasters (earthquakes, hurricanes), and the effects of the mistreatment of nature.

4. Persecution and Hatred Against Christians

Many will lose their lives simply because they love and serve Jesus. Hatred against the Church will increase and will be very visible in all areas of society.

5. Many Will Abandon the Faith

There will be people who will not endure the rejection and hatred against them, so they will prefer to follow other doctrines or movements more accepted by society.

6. Betrayal and Hatred

There will be no loyalty; each person will seek their own well-being and protection, even if the price is betraying those closest to them. Hatred will be more than evident.

7. False Prophets Who Will Deceive Many

All kinds of doctrines will arise that will appeal to people, and many will accept and follow them.

8. Great Wickedness

Evil and unjust actions will spread. There will be a large number of people without scruples or remorse, who will harm others without hesitation.

9. Little Love

Hearts will grow cold; love and the desire to help or care for others will decrease.

10. Expansion of the Gospel Throughout the World

The gospel will be preached in every corner of the world. The good news of the gospel will be announced to all the ethnic groups around the world; and then the end will come (Matthew 24:14).

Read about old testament prophecies about Jesus that were fulfilled.

How will the second coming of Jesus be?

Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. - Matthew 24:30

Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.

- Matthew 24:30

The whole world will see when Christ returns victorious to gather His Church. At the sound of the trumpet, the dead in Christ will rise, and the living will be caught up.

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

No one knows the exact date when this will happen, only God the Father knows the day and the hour (Matthew 24:36). The coming of Christ will be totally sudden, "like lightning that comes from the east and is seen even in the west" (Matthew 24:27). That is why it is so important that we have the certainty that Christ is our Lord and Savior, that we have surrendered our lives to Him. In that way, we will await His second coming with joy and not with fear.

What is The Second Coming of Christ according to the Bible: When Will Jesus Return?

How do I prepare?

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

- 1 John 1:9

If you do not have certainty of salvation, now is a good time to draw near to God and ask Him to forgive your sins. He is waiting as the loving Father He is, longing for reconciliation with His children. Put your faith in Him, accept His forgiveness, and begin to live a life of obedience and service to God.

When we place our faith in Jesus, there is no reason why we should fear the future. No matter what happens, we know we are safe in the strong and loving arms of our Father. Nothing and no one will snatch us from Him, we are secure. Let us focus on living according to His will, in obedience and trust as we wait for His return.
